2026! IT'S SUMMER-ISH AND WE'RE SIMMERING
It’s all kicking off for BLACKSTAR FALLING!!!
We’ve been back at Mark Morrow Audio recording the final tunes for our first album!
The final mixes are back and we're really pleased with the sound. We're just waiting for the final artwork, and the album, THIS IS THE PLACE, will be out in late May or early June, available online and as a hard-copy CD.
After months of rehearsal, we're playing live at last, and loving it. We're coming to the end of a three-month residency at Edinburgh's The Hive in Niddry Street - the last show there is on Saturday 16th May. Doors open at 7pm and entry is FREE.
We were in a Battle of the Bands at Whistlebinkie’s, 4-6 South Bridge, Edinburgh back in February 2026. Although we didn't make the Top Five, we reckon we must have been sixth (out of 32 bands) and we made lots of new friends.
Now we’re lining up dates here and there for the Scottish summer – we’ll post details here and on our social media when confirmed.
OLD NEWS
2025! NEW YEAR, NEW DRUMMER!
BLACKSTAR FALLING is delighted to announce the arrival of our new recruit, drummer Dave Sim, a veteran of the Edinburgh music scene.
After the success of our EP launch party last November, original drummer and founding member of the band Jack Turner packed his sticks and moved on to pastures new. Jack helped to define the band's post-punk sound with his crisp, tight drumming style. He played on all four tracks on the BEYOND EP and we're glad he was able to stay with us long enough to play at the launch gig. He will be sorely missed.
Dave Sim brings a new post-rock influence to BLACKSTAR FALLING. Born and bred in Auld Reekie, he has played not only with a series of strong local bands including Wasted Days, The James Carr Band, The Business and LAF (Lost And Found), but nationally alongside giants such as Nazareth, Big Country, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Iain McNabb.
Dave brings a larger, looser drumming style to the band, and also his vocal skills - we're very much looking forward to introducing harmonies to our live sound, having already incorporated them in our studio recordings. We're thrilled to be beginning the next chapter of BLACKSTAR FALLING's story with Dave on our side.
